As both a concert pianist and model, Russian-German pianist Marina Lieberman is in demand all over the world. But, what makes her unique as a performer is that she combines the repertoire of classical greats with sumptuous symphonic versions of modern classics. Marina’s extensive musical knowledge allows her to infuse Bach, Beethoven and Brahms
masterpieces among contemporary works from artists such as Coldplay and U2 seamlessly.

Marina is truly international. Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, she began to play piano by ear, improvise and compose at the age of four.  She was titled the ’Most Promising Young Composer 1994’ after winning the Young Composer Festival in Ural, Russia.

At the age of eleven, Marina and her family immigrated to Augsburg, Germany, where she was given a place as a junior student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Awards started coming her way, including the 2000, 2001 and 2004 First Federal Prize of Germany at Jugend Musiziert. In her student years Marina won the Steinway Piano Competition Munich, the Barthel Competition Ingolstadt and the Torneo Internazioale di Musica in Cologne.

Marina earned her Bachelor of Arts in piano solo ’summa cum laude’ in 2009. In the midst of preparing her programme for her master recital, she was offered a scholarship to study stage, theatre and music at the famous Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute New York where she spent one year. While in New York, Marina visited piano and chamber music master-classes at the renowned Julliard School Of Music. During this time Marina was featured in Rosa v. Praunheim’s documentary ‘New York Memories’ for SWR and appeared in Schiller’s music video of his song ‘Ile Aye’.

In 2011 Marina was awarded a Master of Music degree. She counts internationally renowned musicians such as Prof. Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen (Israel/Germany), Elisso Wirssaladze and Evgenia Rubinova (Russia), Prof. Eichhorn and Prof. Wolfgang Manz (Germany) as well as Jose Gallardo (Argentina) as her mentors and combines both Russian and Germany piano schools in her performance style.

Throughout her career, Marina’s desire to perform a broad variety of repertoire and reach a wide audience has shown her to be one of most innovative and creative young pianists.

Her talent and versatility as an artist have allowed Marina to not only perform as a classical pianist but also developing her own sophisticated and original performance style which encompasses a rich variety of styles and genres.

Highlights of Marina’s classical performances include collaborations with the German star-cellist Maximilian Hornung (Sony) with whom she won several awards in her teens while studying together. Marina was selected to perform Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto under maestro Marcello Viotti at the ‘Klasse Klassik’ concert series in Munich, recorded solo piano parts of Respighi’s ‘Pines Of Rome’ for Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich and most recently was invited to perform at the ‘Classic FM Live 2015’ concert at the Royal Albert Hall London together with the American star-soprano Angel Blue (Decca). In 2012 Marina was honored to perform her own music at the Hollywood- movie premiere of ’Anna Karenina’ with Keira Knightley and Jude Law in London.

Discovered in 2010 during her performance at the National Arts Club New York by the British classical crossover producer John Haywood who writes music for stars such as the violin-virtuoso David Garrett and UK’s #1 pop-star Paloma Faith to name a few, the decision was made to produce an album together that combines a repertoire of classical greats with sumptuous symphonic versions of modern classics.

Marina is also widely respected for her commitment to working with young people. Since 2005, she has visited schools throughout Germany and United Kingdom and encourages pupils of all ages to pick up their instruments and enjoy classical music.

Since moving to London in 2011, EMI Music has recognised Marina’s expertise and employed her to develop and mentor their child prodigy, the 13-year-old pianist and composer Shane Thomas. In 2015, Marina established her own school ‘Music Teachers London’ where she shares her experience as a renowned piano teacher by nurturing emerging talent and helping disadvantaged children to access music education. Marina exclusively coached Academy Award winner Lady Maggie Smith for her film role in ‘Lady In The Van’ to appear end 2015.

Marina is a former beauty queen. She has held titles Miss Munich and Face Of The Year 2006 and represented Germany at Miss Bikini World 2006 in Taiwan and Miss Global Beauty Queen 2007 in China where she was titled Miss Talent for her outstanding piano performance which was broadcasted on BBC Asia.
